Add a Gazebo
These structures are most often found in gardens, there to provide shade and a place to rest. Gazebos serve as an ornamental feature in a landscape and many times are octagonal.
We built the gazebo pictured here on a floating dock, which created some unique challenges!

Add a Pergola
A pergola is an open-sided structure, topped with rafters (slats) or lattice. You will often see them covered in vines or climbing plants. Pergolas do provide some shade. The amount depends on the spacing of the rafters on top.
This is a very economical way to add interest to your yard, and can provide the perfect spot to put your grill!
