Cupola and Hip Roof Raising

Ben designed this hipped roof system with a 10'x10' cupola and back porch for a custom home on Lake Hartwell. The cupola features windows on all four sides and will be open to the center of the home below, offering drama and natural light. Watch some of the raising here!

The word "cupola" comes from the Italian word, meaning small cup or dome. It typically is a relatively small structure on top of a building, often crowning a larger roof. Cupolas can serve as a belfry or a roof lantern above a main roof. These homeowners are music lover, and wanted the acoustics this type of design and build would provide. They were pleased with the results in looks and sound!
