Water views make a space special, whether that space is a home, a lakeside pavilion, a boathouse, or a gazebo. The body of water might be a burbling creek, a pond, a lake, or an ocean - no matter the size, the view of water is good for our well being.
Here's a look at some timber frame structures we have built that have water views. The site conditions sometimes add interesting new challenges, but we're always up to the task!

Water View Timber Frame Gallery

These three different timber frame porches on three different lakes all share this special feature: beautiful water views. The added benefit of being under roof means they can be enjoyed even on rainy days. Whether dining, rocking in a chair, or sitting by a cozy fire, these are favorite spots of all the homeowners.
On Site

The first step on site is unloading timbers, and then stacking the bents in the correct order for raising. The first section to be raised goes on top of the stack.

Using a crane, we refer to this as "flying" the trusses or bents. Our crew uses standard hand signals to communicate with the crane operator.

These job sites always have inviting water views!

This gazebo was raised on a floating dock. The movement of the dock while working on it made the raising interesting!

We have raised timber frames on top of lake boat houses. These give the homeowners a covered space to hang out and enjoy their water views.
Nice Job Site Views!

Some of our job sites have amazing views for us to enjoy while we work. The first one is a at beautiful lake. Next, from up on the roof of this home we gazed over the marshes, and out to the ocean. The third photo is from our timber frame pavilion raising on Sheffield Island, looking at the Atlantic Ocean.
Alternative Means of Transportation

Working on job sites that are located on the water can entail unusual (for us) modes of transportation. When we raised a home on Tybee Island, South Carolina all of our material and equipment were brought over on a large ferry. One of our boathouse projects on a Georgia lake had limited road access, so bringing the crew and all the timbers by ferry was the best way to travel.
And Now For Fun and Enjoying The Water View

Lunch break on a hot summer day raising a boat house frame offered a welcome perk! A lakeside pavilion offers a spot to hang out and get out of the sun (and where the dog treats are being kept dry).

Water views increase property values. It is also known that they have health benefits, promoting calmness and reducing stress.

Another benefit for us, along with building these beautiful timber frames, is to end some of our workdays witnessing gorgeous sunsets!
