Timber framing straddles the line between old and new. Traditional hand tools share space with precision power tools, and computerized design models share a space with paper and pencil to help visualize structures that are ultimately cut and assembled by hand.

the process of building a timber frame - timber selection, layout, cutting joinery and test fitting joints to ensure accuracy. The week ends with raising the frame on-site at a predetermined location.
"The workshop offers a unique chance to learn in a professional environment and for MoreSun, it's a rewarding way to help mentor and inspire the next generation of timber framers," Morrison said.
That spirit of connection and shared knowledge was evident this past spring when MoreSun hosted the Timber Framers Guild Rendezvous - a multi-day gathering of timber framers from across the country. The event brought together seasoned professionals, students and enthusiasts form a series of workshops, demonstrations and camaraderie.
"For us it was both an honor and a homecoming to welcome fellow guild members to our shop, exchange techniques and celebrate the legacy of timber framing," the owner said.
MoreSun Timber Frames is currently building a new office and showroom. When completed early next year, it will allow Morrison and his project managers and designers to meet with clients while showcasing the warmth, craftsmanship and functionality of a timber frame structure, complete with natural light, handcrafted details and a clear expression of the work MoreSun is known for.

Even a bunk room can take on a rich and uncharacteristic charm given the custom woodwork and traditional craftsmanship of timber framing.
