Luxury rental cabin for the whitewater outfitter
Wildwater Ltd. at their Chattooga River outpost

This hybrid timber frame cabin, located in Long Creek, South Carolina, has a contemporary style. Its floor plan is two rectangles constructed at an angle. Several lofts are supported by structural timber.
The timber frame is a mix of species - eastern white pine and poplar. The poplar trees used were felled from the site providing several large beams and two structural "live edge" posts in the home.
One of the poplar posts supports the manufactured spiral stair kit that we installed. The staircase snakes its way to the third story loft.
Our scope of work was the timber frame itself and stair installation. The home was finished by a local general contractor.

Corkscrew - Hybrid Timber Frame Cabin

Choosing a hybrid timber frame design has several advantages. You can choose to enjoy the beauty of timber frame construction in certain areas of your home. Often clients opt for timber framing in the public areas of their home: the great room, dining room, kitchen, porches. The private areas, such as bedrooms and bathrooms, can be conventionally framed to save on costs. A custom home offers you the opportunity to have just what you want!
